Alan Peverelle winner Christmas Handicap
I am sure Jason’s handicap will be adjusted this year to what should make it harder for him to win 3
competitions and runner up in a 4th.
In a close fought battle Ashley Reeves narrowly beat Paul Fitter in the final of the “Sid Tinley Flying Handicap Snooker Competition”. Only due to an unforced error did “The President” Paul Fitter loose, this was due to a lack of concentration when Ashley whispered in his ear that the prize of £50.00 worth of Marks & Spencer Vouchers would benefit his 5 year old Daughter Amelia who would not have any gifts from Santa if he were to loose. Typical of the President he decided that if the spirit of Christmas was to be achieved he would allow Ashley to win. The Editor is sure those watching appreciated the unforced error that allowed Ashley to win... well done Ashley!
New star of the Snooker Team has appeared in our midst, Jason Wicketts has been co-opted into the A Team and done remarkably well. He was on hand this week when we played “Stadium Club” away in Hall Green and although Jason lost on the pink, which according to his colleagues he never misses a shot at the pink, however, the team recorded their second win of the season winning 3-2. Jason has shown remarkable talent after only a few months of regular snooker. I think the handicap Committee will have to look harder next season into Jason’s handicap.
The Snooker section has decided that any matches that should have been played by the 14th,October will have a stay of execution until the 2nd, November any matches not played by then will be scrubbed.
The Snooker Team had their first win this week against the ”Forget me Not Club“ playing away, a 3-2 victory, I am reliable informed but for Alan Thurston loosing in the most unfortunate manner it should have been 4-1. The “A Team” play in the Efficiency Premiership League where many semi professional players compete, as you can imagine the standard is extremely high. Dominic Ostler informs me he is the only Team Member to win all his matches and feels let down by the other “Muppets” in the Team. Dominic learnt this bonding technique playing first class cricket for Warwickshire. The Team play all their matches at home on a Tuesday and would welcome any support.
As the in house matches are in full swing please keep an eye on the dates they are due to be played by. The Snooker section is able to give a little on the dates but please attempt to get them played as soon as possible. They do not want to scratch players so get them played.
We are re introducing “The Sid Tinley” Flying handicap competition, which this year will be played on Saturday 1st December. For those who have never played this before you use all the colours but only 1 red, this way you can play the whole competition over 1 evening. Because it is a handicap even the novices amongst you could win the first prize of a Xmas Hamper, it’s a good fun night!
We will also be having some exhibition matches by Mitchell Mann who is the “BBC Junior Pot Black” Champion, I believe and stand to be corrected he has over 7 maximum breaks of 147 and is only 15. From what I have been told he will undoubtedly one day become World Champion.
