I would like to thank all of those Members and Guests who came to see Rod on 29th December. Due to “Man Flu” I was unable to attend but after seeing the Bar take realised it was our busiest night of the year. Combined with this is sincere thanks to the Bar Staff who managed to cope under the 3 deep at the Bar, also to Sam Moore who managed to keep the glasses collected and distributed. We have booked Rod for the same Saturday in December 2008 so make a note.
We were pleased to be able to hold Claire Evans 21st at The Shirley Club on 21st, July 07. It is the first 21st we had ever held in The Club. Rob Evans who has been a Member for many years wished it to be held amongst friends and The Committee agreed with him.
Rob and his Wife Anna agreed to pay for the DJ and put on a fabulous evening for the 100+ guests including many older Members who really enjoyed the event. All the invited Guests looked fabulous in their best Party suits. One in particular stood out and that was Claire who danced and partied till well after Midnight, but was still on hand the following day to lend a hand to tidy up, thanks Claire. It has been a pleasant surprise to me the excellent behaviour of the partygoers and should any Member wish to hold a similar event for their Sons or Daughters I am sure the Club can accommodate.
We all wish Claire well and assure her she can have all her Parties in the Club.
21st Birthday Party
A thoughtful Rob thinks, "where did all the years go."
Those of you who managed to leave work early and come to the Russia v England game at the Club on 17th, October were
unable to cheer England to the victory they needed. However, we enjoyed having your company and hope you were able
to understand the commentary even though it was in German. I counted 60 Members and Guest’s and Tony Miller was
excellent behind the Bar, thanks Tony.
We need to thank Dick and our website designer Charles Willcock for coming in just before kick off to “iron out” some of the teething problems we are having with our new Multi Media Satellite System.
Alas all is not lost on the sporting front and we have Rugby and Motor Racing to look forward to at the weekend, we can’t have any more bad luck can we?
