The Shirley Club

Presidents Night

Dear Member,

This year Presidents Night is on Friday April 11th and because of the quality of the entertainment I personally hope that the Membership will take the “lions share” of tickets, although, I am sure there will be some Guest tickets, but the Members have until 23rd March to book and pay for themselves. We will then sell to guests on a first come basis after that date.

I have asked Alan Thornhill to act as Director of Ceremonies (he loves to hear himself on the mike) and he will arrange all the raffles etc. We should this year have about £1000.00s worth of prizes and all the profits will go into Club funds. I have also asked Tony Miller to organize the seating plan so please make him aware whom you would like to sit by.

The after dinner speaker needs no introduction the one and only Mr Norbert (Nobby) Stiles OBE, 1966 World Cup Winner and ex Manchester United player who coached amongst others Beckham, Scholes, Giggs and the Neville brothers. I am sure many will remember him jigging around Wembley, teeth in one hand and the World Cup in the other.

Mal Rich is a scouser by birth; please note the Club accepts no liability for missing hubcaps and car stereo units and this night. He works regularly with Nobby Stiles and comes well recommended as a first class speaker and comedian. For those Members who have never been to a Presidents Night and if you never come again this is the one to be at.

Tickets are on sale behind the Bar, please pay before the night, it is easier on those who also wish to enjoy the night and not have to collect money. Members ticket to include 3 coarse meal and entertainment £25.00 each, as and when Guest tickets are made available the price will be slightly higher but yet to be agreed.

Looking forward to seeing as many Members as possible.
